Penrith Hope Walk - Shared from Nepean Police Local Area Command

From The Nepean Police Local Area Command...

Tracy Ford is feeling hopeful at Tench Reserve, Nepean River.
Suicide impacts all facets of society. Today I was asked to both participate in the Penrith Hope Walk to raise awareness and start the conversation around suicide. Why policing ? We are a first response agency that operates 24/7 and we can impact on the person who is at crisis point and intervene. Or we are there at crisis point for families that have discover that their loved ones have now passed at their own hand. We operate at times of crises to both the patient and the bereaved and work around our responsibilities within investigation and processing matters on behalf of the coroner. We attempt to answer the why and try and quell the what if’s - however we are reliant on our support groups pre and post suicide that can hold, comfort and support families through their grief and recovery from their loss. Thank you for this honour and your network. It was good to connect with you all ðŸ’™ðŸ‘®‍♀️💛💛💛🦋🦋

John Svoboda shared a post.

Penrith Hope Walk 2019 - A Success....
John Svoboda is with Diane Tracy Marie Russell and 3 others.

Penrith Hope Walk 2019 was a successful walk today. We had at least 70-80 people at the walk - which is a great start for the first event in Penrith. We had people as far as Tregear and Blue Mountains that turned up at the event. My estimates were at least 70 - 80 people attended the walk (Short & Long Walk)
Thanks goes to all volunteers of Western Sydney Suicide & Support Network. Philippe Liniere , chef, his friend John & Brett the coffee man. Then there was Ru Ben & Christopher Booth our singers. Thank you to Sharon Clifford, former Penrith Coordinator WSSP&SN,
Guests speakers: Dianne Diane Tracy Marie Russell, Inspector Tracy Ford, Donna Fletcher, Councillor Brian Cartwright and Ray Lemon for minute of silence and respect to outsiders & country.
We also appreciated the attendance of Hon. Melissa McIntosh Federal Member of Parliament for Lindsay. I remember when I approached her campaign office, earlier this year, the gentleman in the front of of her campaign office said that she would definitely come to the event. When you hear things like this during an election you think 'THAT'S JUST TO GET A VOTE' but he obviously knew her well enough that her attendance quashed that thought. Getting our message and awareness to all politicians is important.
And of course a huge Thank you to Wayne Willmington ( Willmo) from Vintage FM and his crew for promoting the event and being interviewed by them allowing airtime to promote, this important cause. It was a beautiful day to raise the awareness and prevention of suicide and Talk about support for suicide victims.

Pet Therapy Survey - Relationship Australia

Owning your own pets may be calming and even be helping one's well being. To me, there are many reasons for that: we tend to care for the animals, show respect, love them and we may even talk to them.

This may give us positive relationship signs that make us feel happy inside ourselves and and also may provide a sense of emotional stability. Domestic animals like dogs, cats and birds are the favorite ones that most people like to have at home. It is also fun naming them.

Myself , the names my parents used for their dogs was 'Bobby, Rusty, Cindy and Kora' Interesting names? I  still remember each one of them as if there were here with me today. I haven't had a dog for over 29 years until recent and yes I do miss them. I've had pigeons, budgies, canaries, tropical fish and cats. I even remember I had a lizard tank. In my growing younger years, it improved my well being. I had pets to care as well as parents tendering to myself.

What's you r experience with pets?

Where There Is Walk There is Hope.........

So today, was a day I was to observe the organisation of  'The Hawkesbury Hope Walk', commencing from Clarendon Tennis Courts to the Richmond  RAAF information centre.

It was great day and the 3rd time it was held and for the 2nd time supported by the Western Sydney Suicide Prevention & Support Network (WSSP&SN). It was my first 'Hope' and will be first  of many ' Hope' walks that I will attend and co-ordinate one in the Penrith LGA, which I would like it to be called Bridge to Bridge.
Anyway, the Hawkesbury Hope Walk is a growing walk - from 20
people the first year to 150 last year to
over 210 people this year. A lot of people taking the walk would have been a victim of Suicide either through family or  close friends and there
would have been some that may have contemplated suicide and
Peter Webb
felt self-pride and comfortable by participating in the hope walk, which is hoping to prevent suicide for all people.

The Hawkesbury Hope Walk

The walk was an easy walk, where people could talk to each other and ask why they were here or maybe to let them do the walk quietly. A 2 kilometer or so walk is a gentle way we can get the message of hope and help to anyone that needs help. The 20-30 seconds of quiet reflection was a very important part before starting the walk.

I spoke to three men during and after the walk and two were strong men that had known of people that taken their own lives and one man had come to thank the organisation for allowing him to
John Svoboda & Gray Sims from NSW

participate and the way  the Hawkesbury Walk 2019 was conducted. What I didn't realise was that there are so many people, victims of a suicide, at the event and we all must be mindful of how they feel and allow them to speak, when they want to speak.

Here are some videos to see. Help yourself to view all of them:

Have A 'Back UP Plan' - To Feel Happier......

This is what I wrote on ' A Sense Of Natural Well Being Face Book Page':

I now understand what can make people sad, upset and leading to be in a depression state of mind.

I believe that there is other people than yourself that are working against you every day based on work targets, based on travelling public transport, based on stepping outside your house, driving on roads. etc. They are there trying to belittle you, to make you feel smaller than you are to them, to yell, shout, at you. They feel you are competition to them. They feel they are supreme to you. They know what they are doing to you.

They want to catch you off guard. They want to tell your news to someone else when it is your own responsibility. They think they are winners and they are still racing.

Ever day of our lives is a successful day of our live: breathing the air, living the day, planning the day the day we want too. It is when we have distractions from others (like above), is how we face it We all have a 'mind of own' and we control all of our minds. The power is within us to push away these useless distractions and go forward looking for the 'back up plan'.

A 'back up plan', should always be in mind whilst you are living your daily life and if it not used, it means those distractions are not there, in your way.
Why is a 'Back up Plan' needed? Simply, to keep ourselves on the straight road of happiness, contentment and love: straight and narrow.

The ones you love may be testing you. That hurts as they should be ones listening to you, respecting you and most importantly loving you.

What do I mean of a back up plan?'

As an example, it could mean moving away from the City and go straight into the country. It could mean moving to another job (less pressured). It could mean ignoring the ones that make you feel bad for a while and supporting other family and friends. it could mean that you need time out from what you are doing and providing yourself with special important head space time - into our bush,, natural waterways and discover nature. Nature responds to you when to speak to nature, Nature doesn't hurt you,. Discovering nature is a relieving method to de-stress ourselves. Natural is a calming affect, a low cost way of enjoying life.

This is peace within our own mind. Emotionally,we need to defeat the distractions that cause us to be saddened, be upset and then depressed. Not by any negative way of dealing with it but with a positive mindset. The simple thing is to tell these people to make you happy not sad and look into their own lives to see why they have a sad mindset, then maybe you will they will look up to you and not look down to you.

Our own emotional happiness is important. I always say and preach to people, who are sad of themselves and environment, only you can change yourself and be happy and finding ways to do that you can do. Once you are happy then the people around will be happy full.

Most of the time of my life, I have a happy outlook on life You do the same - happiness is how you make yourself happy and remain happy
